Animal Cruelty

People know me as a cat guy. Actually, I’m an equal opportunity pet person. I also have no tolerance for anyone who tortures animals of any kind. Caught this story about a cat serial killer on CNN this morning and I hope they find the sick bastard and string him up. Of course, if these killings are similar to the events in Phoenix five years ago then the perpetrator probably won’t get caught.

Not sure what motivates someone to torture animals for fun. I was in San Antonio a couple of years ago when I caught some teenagers roasting kittens on a barbecue pit. They had fired up the coals and were poking the kittens with sticks as they tried to get out of the fire. I was unable to save the kittens and I only managed to grab one of the teenagers. It took A LOT of self-restraint to keep from kicking the kid’s teeth in and lucky for him the police arrived quickly on the scene.

I don’t know if animal torture is on the rise, but it was a recent theme in the X-Men comic book series. Marvel Comics teamed with the Doris Day Animal Foundation back in May as part of a comics for compassion campaign.

There’s plenty I have to ramble on about, but it will have to wait until after classes today.

You’re a much better man than me, my friend. If it were me, I wouldn’t have stopped at kicking the little bastard’s teeth in. I always hope I never come across that situation because I know I’d probably end up in jail.

I agree with you – I hope they find the little douchebags and string them up.

Trust me, the punk definitely caught me on one of my better days. It was only because I knew the cops were on the way that I didn’t thrash the kid severely.

My history with the city’s finest hasn’t always been stellar so taking the high road was the smarter option for me.

Ah – fine point.

Still, I would have been hard pressed to contain myself. There are very few things in this world I cannot tolerate – that is near or at the top of the list.

I wouldn’t have kicked the little bastard’s teeth in, I would have prodded him with the hot pokers instead.

OMG. I’m totally speechless. How could anyone do that to an animal?

holy shite, that is so sick I don’t know what to think. That scares me. You can’t have a soul and do something like that.

That’s digusting… What are people thinking when they do shit like that? I don’t even want to know.

Whilst myself am not animal crazy (except cats, and horses that win), I would never harm another animal. That’s sick and wrong.

Another thing: Suppose the cat owner has young kids? When my hamster passed on a few years back, I had trouble dealing with it (as I did get attatched). Imagine the pain if the cat was from a family of young kids. How do you explain that the family cat hadn’t just died, but was murdered? Sick, isn’t it?

As you know, AJ, I’m not a cat man. Mostly because allergies have left a bad taste in my mouth. But joking about torture and hatred are one thing, and acting on it is another. I’m pretty sickened by that article, thanks for bringing it to my attention.
