Digital Photography Club – Tuesday, September 1st at 7pm: Come out to the Mini-Expo. Local vendors will be on hand to talk about their wares.
Light Tec – Saturday, September 5th at 4pm: A special photo shoot at the Grayson Hill Winery.
DFW Twitter Meetup – Saturday, September 5th at 4pm: Using Google Reader for Twitter Branding.

Top 4 Ways Christians Can Unleash People’s Expectations

Today at Abundant Life Church, our Student Pastor, Donnie Culpepper, asked parents to release their expectations on their children so that God could unleash the potential of this next generation.
The statement about expectations really took hold of me because throughout this past month the message has been about saving our city. Pastor Hennigan challenged the church body to step out and take an active role in delivering God’s message. Based on independent studies, church bodies will dwindle away to almost nothing in the years to come, and 2050 marks a date that would see significantly less people in the Word of God.
I believe a key part to reaching out to people is an understanding of expectations. [Read more]

From grids to gels and ring flashes, by using Canon’s Speedlite system JVS will show you new and exciting ways to breathe light into your images. The day will be balanced between instruction and experimentation with models in a professional photography studio.
Creating HD Video with the Canon EOS System: Sunday, November 8th 9AM-5PM
with EOL Bruce Dorn
Respected director and photographer Bruce Dorn will guide a small group of participants through each integral part of the HD video production process. You’ll learn the essentials of directing, lighting, camera operation and be introduced to editing. You’ll work directly with Bruce to create, direct talent and shoot a short video.
Looks to be a great season of learning coming this fall. As your humble Adobe Instructor, I’ll be passing along the latest industry updates & savings I find.

ReTweets – Is Twitter Breaking Community Features

According to yesterday’s blog post, Twitter has plans to work retweets (RTs as they’re used) into the online application. According to Dan Zarrella this is a summary of the change in function, “Twitter plans to add a button to the Twitter web client that says “Retweet” that will allow you to send the same exact Tweet, withno editing, to your followers. Your followers will see the original poster’s avatar and name, even if they’re not following them, and the only indication they’ll see that it is a ReTweet will be a small line of light gray text underneath it.”
I saw a sputtering of tweets today on the topic, and I’m inclined to jump on the #SaveReTweets bandwagon. However, if we’re to assume Twitter has the interests of the community in mind, I would like to add some helpful critiques. [Read more]
