UPDATE 03/26/2012 – I jumped on set with John P & Cali Lewis during an episode of GeekBeat Live to show them Photoshop Touch, and I wrote an article for Adobe’s Inspire magazine about my PS Touch digital photography workflow.

If you caught my demo last month for the DFWAUG then you were able to see Adobe’s latest app for tablets–Photoshop Touch. A version created specifically for tablet computing, Photoshop Touch allows creatives to capture their inspiration anywhere on the go. Photoshop Touch has the features you appreciate in the desktop version of the program, including selections, layers, blend modes, opacity, even image adjustments such as levels & curves.

Last month, DFWAUG members were excited to see the potential of Photoshop on a tablet, but the largest looming question was “When do we see it on the iPad?”

That day is today.

Photoshop Touch is now available for $9.99 on the iPad2 running iOS5.

Be sure to watch for upcoming demos live & online as we head into next month.

It’s Wednesday, which means we’re halfway to Friday, which means the weekend might as well be here. If you’re in Dallas then you may want to attend some of the following events scheduled this weekend:

Dallas Digital Photography Club – Saturday, Feb 21st the club will be at the Ft Worth Zoo for an early morning photo safari. Tickets are going fast so register right away if interested.

DFWAUG – In case you miss the photo safari, also on Saturday, Feb 21st, my good friend J. Schuh will be delivering an over-the-top-you-gotta-see-it-to-believe presentation on After Effects. Not only is J. a skilled animator, expert After Effects dude AND charismatic speaker, his very presence will single-handedly crush you if you’re not paying attention.

Texas Glamour Club – Darryl Briggs is running another series of photography workshops this weekend beginning Friday evening, Feb 20th. The featured model is none other than hometown favorite Sheena Lee.

Adobe has released Lightroom 2. Information Week has a summary of all the new Lightroom 2 features for anyone who did not download the beta. Eric Bernskiold has a blog post with links to learning resources for Lightroom. Go visit the Lightroom Community education center where you can chat with Dallas’s resident expert Gene McCullagh.

As with the CS3 suite, I would recommend this upgrade to anyone looking to improve their Adobe digital workflow. The improved Library support, and targeted adjustment brush in the Develop module expand both the function and creativity of Lightroom. Look for a more detailed review on this blog in the upcoming weeks.

I will be giving a demonstration of Illustrator CS3 at the May meeting of the DFWAUG user group. The meeting will be at the usual location Nerdbooks, and will be held on Saturday, May 17th.

Hope to see a decent turnout for the event. I generally get the call for the Photoshop or Lightroom gigs. It will be a nice change of pace to flex a little vector muscle, and see what folks are interested in.

If you haven’t registered for the DFWAUG newsletter be sure to goto their website now and sign up.
