Launch of the Designer Roundtable Podcast

Today marks the first official episode of the Designer Roundtable Podcast. This project is the brainchild of Firgs, with some tomfoolery by Erik Bernskiold, a pinch of Landailyn for Photoshop Guru credibility & yours truly to make us an even number. (OK, the kids needed a chaperon–LOL) While the first few episodes are prerecorded, our hope is to eventually run a live interactive show. That means we need your input. Follow @DRTpodcast on Twitter or “like” the official DRTPodcast page on Facebook. (You can also subscribe via iTunes once the show is approved) After you’ve done that, send us your questions & feedback. That is what will make this a GREAT show.

Alrighty, I’ve rambled on enough this morning. Go checkout Episode 1 of the DRTpodcast.

Create a Rubik’s Cube Photo Frame with Photoshop

Yesterday, Janine Smith posted a Photoshop tutorial over on TipSquirrel entitled Cubism. If you don’t know Janine, she’s an award-winning photo restoration artist, and MUCH MORE creative than myself. Before you watch my video, be sure to read her tutorial. (That’s where you’ll find the PSD file Janine created that I use in the video) It’s a great idea, and I wish I had thought of it. Being the Photoshop technician that I am, I quickly broke down the steps to come up with Cubism 2.0. That’s the great thing about Photoshop–talk to 100 different experts you’ll get 100 different methods to accomplish the same task. Thanks to Janine for being this morning’s Photoshop inspiration. Enjoy!

Interview with Vince Dudzinski aka @pairadocsdesign

About 12 days ago I had a chance to catch up with a friend of mine Vince Dudzinski. First of all, let me say that my buddy Vince has the distinct honor of sharing my daughter’s birthday today. So Happy Birthday Vince! My gift to you? A blog post, heh heh.

For those of you that have not connected with Vince, you can catch him on Twitter as @pairadocsdesign. What you REALLY want to do is visit Vince’s Flickr photostream. I learned two things after viewing Vince’s images – he’s exceptionally talented, and I didn’t spend nearly enough time hangin’ out with him while I visited Michigan State (back in the day). Here are some excerpts from an IM conversation I recently had with him on Google Talk:

(Just a heads up, this article is long, and my attempts to break into multiple pages have not worked with my current theme. Hope to have this resolved shortly)

A.J. – How you doin?

Vince: good, man – how are you? Kid was sick now wife is… trying to avoid it

A.J. – Aack! Not good. Thanks for jumpin’ on tonight, and being my first interviewy person.

Vince: heh. no problem man. I’m flattered 🙂

A.J. – Sure, you’re Flickr stuff is amazing… so many questions, so little time…

Vince: cool – thank you. I’m still learning the photography thing. I feel I can never stop learning really. I appreciiate the kind words. I’ve only been taking photography really seriously for just over a year now… and I look back at older stuff and shudder.
