Spurs 96, Mavericks 83 – Let’s Get Two More Wins!!!

This is why Duncan is the MVP!!!Well, you might be asking yourself why this post is happening after 3am… or not. Michelle & I caught the game, but seeing as Amy flew in from Michigan and we’re in Austin visiting our friends Jamee & Scott well hoppin’ on the `net wasn’t an immediate priority.

Damn!!! What a game we had tonight!!! It was a knock down dragged out tussle which ended with the Mavericks losing Dirk Nowitski midway through the 4th quarter. The refs let the two teams duke it out and the foul calling while still questionable at times was significantly less.

I have to say tonight’s game reminded me why I will never be a fan of Dallas teams. Before the game was over seats at the American Airlines Center (in Dallas) started emptying. Not ten minutes before the game ended, but the beginning of the fourth quarter.

I felt bad for the Mavericks because they deserve better from their fans. I think this has been a good series and both teams are playin’ their asses off. This is what the playoffs are all about and it’s disappointing that people would spend A LOT of money on tickets then bail just because their team might lose.

Well, it’s late and I should think about getting some sleep. Hope everyone is having a great Memorial Weekend. I’ll hopefully post something late Sunday night after Game 4.

Taking pictures (as promised) to post when we get back and oh!

Happy Birthday Nanette!!!

nite.

Spurs 119, Mavericks 106 – Series Tied 1-1

One down, three more to go.Look at me, posting three times today. Woot! I am the bloginator… heh.

Well, it certainly wasn’t pretty, but the Spurs managed to hold the lead in another game ridden with foul calls. This time the Spurs knocked down 24 foul shots before trailing off 10 of 18. As with Monday’s game the Spurs were aggressive from the start boasting a 25 point lead at the end of the first half. Against any other team this would establish a comfort zone, but the Mavericks were once again able to pull within 8 points. Coming into this series the Spurs had lost four out of five games where they had blown double digit leads. It was beginning to feel like history would repeat itself.

Fortunately some changes in personnel – Malik Rose for Bruce Bowen – gave the Spurs advantage in holding back the tide that is the Mavericks offense. There will be a lot of controversy over the officiating as Dallas quickly ran up technical fouls and Don Nelson was ejected from the game early in the first quarter. With the games tied at one a piece, both teams have proven that this will be another grueling series.

they say size doesn’t matter…

male looking down his pantsKatie mentioned that perhaps I’m getting a little out of hand with all the pictures of scantily clad women so I thought I’d whip up a peace offering.

(Yes, I know her comment wasn’t serious)

I say for all the marketing surveys that tell impressionable young girls that their bodies aren’t perfect (breasts are too small, hips are too big, etc) there are actually some of us that don’t fall into that trap.

You know what’s sexy? CONFIDENCE. Would you want to be with the guy in the picture over there? (I didn’t ask would you sleep with him) I totally dig Michelle NOT because she poses for pictures like this, but for knowing that model isn’t a better person because of her appearance. In fact, it was Michelle’s idea to do that photo and it was the model “Nicole” who hesitated just a bit. How can tall & leggy compare to arms like this? Michelle is my Jennifer Garner.

Don’t fall into the hype. There will always be somebody with more money, larger breasts, a bigger dick, more athletic or brains like Einstein. Capitalize on your strengths, be confident in who you are and if the other person can’t love you for that then they aren’t worth your time. I might not be John Holmes, but Michelle certainly isn’t with me for my financial status.

UPDATE – The votes are in for Katie’s Two Lies & One Truth game.

A minute’s rambling…

photo of twinsI envy those folks that have the ability to write at a moments notice without the need for repetitive editorial processes. I seem unable to tap that part of my brain that allows me to instantly put pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard) and just write. I would post more frequently if it weren’t for the fact that an entry for me could literally take an hour’s worth of time. I’ll type & retype, read & reread, spell check, then read again and that’s if I haven’t spent 20 minutes editing a photo. Because I don’t just want to resize a photo and post, I want it to look good. So what my photography skills lack I make up for with some decent PhotoShop know-how.

Of course, time is a commodity these days and Michelle will be the first to tell you we don’t have enough of it. I recently made an agreement with Michelle that I would spend less time on the computer because her perception has been that it’s a must have for me. She’s probably correct, if I’m not reading any number of blogs then I’m knee-deep in world news. Of course this leaves little time for me to actually churn out an entry which means I have to be way more efficient doing so. But I worry, will the quality of this blog suffer? Do you folks actually give a damn about the quality of this blog? Categorically speaking, I’m probably all over the place. The Mad Pony girls have cornered the market on “all fluff, no stuff”, Dawn & Jared cover both ends of the political spectrum, while Sarah and the Hose Monster make any topic seem interesting. And there’s all the questions I have yet to answer for Katie. I can’t imagine they spend countless hours going over their entries before posting, but somehow I do.

(imagine that 20 minutes and counting)

Moving on to last weekend. [keep writing, don’t proof read] Michelle & I had a wonderful time in Austin. We got to see her nephew Michael play in a baseball tournament (really some unranked practice matches) and of course her sister’s twin babies are a bunch of fun. (We love other people’s children because we can spoil them and give them back when we’re done). Mother Nature gave us decent weather all weekend and Sunday she held the rain off until the last game was over. I’m happy we weren’t here for the hail storm that hit Dallas.

The only part of the trip that sucked was the driving. Not the actual drive because Michelle & I traded 8 hour road trips every weekend for a year, but dealing with STUPID DRIVERS can really wear on my nerves. Here’s a couple of ideas I think should be turned into law:

1. The left lane IS the fast lane. If you suddenly feel the urge to cut me off by moving into the left lane don’t immediately slam on your breaks because you think I’m too close. Nobody should be too close in the left lane. If I’m too close, you’re going too slow and should move to the right.

2. Big rig trucks should not be allowed to change lanes. I think truckers enjoy cutting off other vehicles. It never fails, I’ll be zipping along in the fast lane and notice two trucks following each other in the right lane. Just before I pass the rear truck the driver will change lanes and pass the front truck. I’m sure they’re on their CBs saying “Wait for it… wait for it… NOW!!!”.

OK, I’m just going to spell check this entry and post it… any urge to rewrite it completely will be ignored for at least 10 minutes…

Bed please…

Recovering from a long school day. Normally, I would ramble on about this weekend’s events, but let me sum up for you then point you to the photo gallery:

Saturday Night – Rocked our asses off after leaving Tiki Bobs and joining Jen at Have A Nice Day Cafe. So sooooooooo good to catch up with Jen, our premiere party girl.

Sunday Afternoon – Michelle & I went to Ft. Worth to catch Geoff doing sportbike tricks at Pennington Field. Saw Daniel & Meg (pics soon), rode the track in Daniel’s Mustang (video coming soon), and then witnessed Geoff bounce off the pavement when the wind swept him off his bike while doing a standup trick. Geoff ended up with a cracked rib and we waited for Kendall to come out with a truck so we could haul the bike back to Geoff’s.

I’ve homework to do so you checkout this weekend’s pics and I’ll catch ya tomorrow.
